The bell tolls from the Jeta Grove Monastery,
Resounding with the echo of impermanence in all phenomena.
The blossoms of the twin Sala trees,
Reveal the truth that all that flourishes must fade.
The wealthy do not last long,
Like a dream on a spring night.
The mighty soon perish,
Like dust before the passing wind.
衹園精舍之鐘聲，扣諸行無常之響；
娑羅雙樹之花色，顯盛者必衰之理。
奢人不久，唯如春夜之夢；武者遂亡，偏同風前之塵。
